As NYFW comes to a close (New York Fashion Week) the reports are in! One major trend spotted was none other than..... velvet. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this, how versatile and workable is velvet? Turns out after looking at multiple runway pictures, I actually love it! Seen on the runways of Rachel Zoe, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain and Etro, this trend is here to stay for the Winter/Fall 2013 season.
Displaying a look of luxury, velvet has been dated back to royal times. But now this look isn't only for royals, its for everybody. I’m going to take some recent runway looks and show you how to transform them.
The velvet dress look has to be my favorite of all. It puts a spin on the classic LBD look and reinvents it for the modern woman. Like this look? Go Here and here for some great velvet dresses to check out.

Feeling a little bit more risky? Why not try and incorporate some velvet tops into your wardrobe? This Rachel Zoe patterned draped top is my personal favorite, I would undeniably wear this to a nice event or maybe even just shopping in New York.
